Hi
Did you install the two files required for MS Speech?
1. msttsl
2. spchapi
It's recomended that these files be installed in the above order.
If you didn't install the spchapi.exe file then there is a very long pause
before JFW announces the new voice when changing voices.
Could this be the problem?

I forgot to add this... that the version of MS Speech that I am using does
work in K1000. But it does not work on my JFW at home or work. Any ideas?
