Hello

Vince's message contained an error. He has the order in which the files
should be installed reversed. Below is an excerpt from HJ Technical support
notice 26. The only thing I might add is that setting the reset frequency
to 0 seems to have helped the speech quality on a slower (233 MHz with 48 Mb
of ram) system.

You should install the files for Microsoft Speech before you install
JFW3.3.

Best regards

Gator

In order to install the MS Speech Engine as one of your synthesizers, first
you must run two executable files (spchapi.exe and mstts.exe)in the proper
order for it to work correctly.

These files are located in the Root of the JFW 3.3 CD in a Folder called:
d:\msspeech

Solution:
Launch MS-Explorer, then go to your CD-ROM drive (usually it is designated
as the D drive letter) where you have the JFW 3.3 CD.

Open the MSSPEECH folder and execute spchapi.exe first, then execute the
mstts.exe (failure to execute these in this order, may result in the MS
Speech Engine not working).

When using the MS Speech Engine as your default synthesizer the same global
person should be selected for all voices (you can change pitch and speed).

Do not mix and match different person voices.

Hi

Did you install the two files required for MS Speech?
1. msttsl
2. spchapi
It's recomended that these files be installed in the above order.

If you didn't install the spchapi.exe file then there is a very long pause
before JFW announces the new voice when changing voices.

Could this be the problem?

Vince.

        Listers,

I forgot to add this... that the version of MS Speech that I am using does
work in K1000. But it does not work on my JFW at home or work. Any ideas?
