Hi Glenn, I used to use the same setup although the specs on my pc were
different - 32ram, 1.5gb hard drive, 233Mhz, as I recall. I also found that
after unloading JFW3.2 and loading Openbook 3.5U, although it appeared okay,
when you go to scan the first page of something it would beep a couple of
times and say something about the scanner not online or couldn't be found,
or something like that - I really can't remember. It often said to check
the serial card and cable connections, which at first I often did. After a
while when there wasn't anything out of the ordinary going on with the card
or cable, I learned to just go ahead and try to scan again and more than not
it would work just fine. When it didn't, I found that if I unloaded
Openbook and reloaded it, it would be okay. When that failed, I would again
unload Openbook, and do a restart on the pc, and that always took care of
it. There was never a time that I couldn't finally get it working. You may
have experienced all that, too, but since I could relate to your message, I
thought I would let you know of my experience. Good luck with it.
