Well, Jed, perhaps you're not exactly doing anything wrong, but you
are certainly making it more difficult than necessary.

Depending on where you are on the current site, just tab or back tab
(SHIFT-TAB) to the address field and type in the location where you
want to go.  Alternatively, you can just press CTRL-O to open the open
dialog and type in the address.

If there is a link to the site where you want to go on the current
page, just tab to it and hit enter on it.

Whatever your situation, there is no need to close Internet Explorer
and restart it to go to a different site.  And, if you want to reload
the current page again, just press F5.  Happy surfing.
