Tom,
Make sure when you install Client for Microsoft Network, that you have also filled out the identification tab even if it with a phony name. This is necessary to trick the system into thinking you are on a network so that it will remember your password. If youv'e already tried this and it doesn't work, have you dumped this problem on your ISP?
Oh yeah, I know the Network applet and its Identification tab very well; I've probably been into it and changed the computer name, workgroup and so on fifty times or more. Well, maybe not that many times, but you get the idea. Still no luck. Each time I reboot after that, I'm not given the opportunity to log on to Windows with a password. I just go sailing right in and when I log onto the Net that "save password" checkbox is still grayed out. It's not a big deal, but it is puzzling and slightly frustrating at times.
This isn't an ISP-related problem, I'm sure of that. I've set up a number of dialup connections to different Net providers on this machine and had the problem with each one of them.
Cheers!
Tom
