Hello All -
I have sent Nick scripts for the latest release of Cute FTP, version 3. I
hope he will post these shortly. The readme file is shown below.
SCRIPT AND CONFIGURATION FILES FOR CUTE FTP 3 BY KEN GOULD, 6/30/99.
These files are contained in a self-extracting archive, CUTFTP32_3.EXE. To
install the files, just run the executable file by clicking on it, pressing
enter when it is highlighted in Windows Explorer, or using the standard
Windows Run dialog. The files will be extracted to C:\JFW33\SETTINGS\ENU\
by default. If your JFW configurations are in a different directory,
change the path when the self-extracting dialog comes up.
These scripts add several useful features to Cute FTP 3 However, you must
be using this latest version of Cute FTP for all the features to work
properly. Those using earlier versions should use the scripts for version
2.8 and upgrade to that version, or they may find that certain features do
not work as expected. For best results, run Cute FTP in a maximized
window. The new features are:
1. When you tab between the local and remote directories, the path of the
directory you switch to is announced automatically.
2. A hot key, Control+Shift+T, has been added that will announce the path
to your current directory at any time.
3. A hot key, Control+1, announces the number of bytes already transferred
during a file transfer.
4. A hot key, Control+2, announces the current transfer rate.
5. A hot key, Control+3, announces the completion percentage of the file
transfer. Sometimes absurd percentages are announced, but this is a
problem with Cute FTP, not the scripts.
6. A hot key, Control+4, reads the contents of the status lines.
7. JAWS will now announce whether the item is a file or folder when you
arrow through the contents of a directory.
8. All important graphics that are displayed by default in the tool bar
have been labeled, so they can be read with the JAWS cursor. However, it
should be noted that Cute FTP now lets you customize the tool bar using the
Settings/Options dialog available from the FTP menu. You can add numerous
graphics from here to your tool bar, and many of these may not be labeled.
9. Certain important error and status messages will be announced
automatically. This works best if your screen resolution is set to 800 by 600.
10. All important hot keys have been labeled, so they will speak their
functions when executed.
11. The Backspace key is now used to move up one level in the local or
remote directories, just as in Windows Explorer. Starting with release
2.8, Cute FTP no longer displays a parent directory icon at the top of the
file list for moving up one level. The Backspace key is, therefore, the
most convenient way to do this.
Best regards,
Ken
