Had the same problem until I changed my video card. You can buy any brand of
computer you want just as long as you have the right components in the
computer. It seems that JFW must have a video card that is compatible. It
would be great if the vendors and JFW would make it known up front that you
need a certain type of video cards so JFW would work properly. In my own
case it took me a year and a half to learn that my video card was not
compatible with JFW. I even took my computer to two sight centers to get it
to work. I was told it was the brand of computer I was using. Gateway does
not have any ideal what is needed to make their computerbe friendly for
blind users. JFW did not tell me the card could be my problem, until one day
I talked to one of the Tec people at Henter-Joyce who had me check the
video card and found that it was not compatible with their product. I can
tell you that spending the money for a compatible video card is worth the
money. Under $120.
