Hi, Steve. I've had this problem with two programs at work, I too use a
Compaq Deskpro but not with the S3 video card. The two programs I use are
Xerox custom programs for entering help desk files into a database and for a
customer knowledge base, none of these graphics can be labeled at all but
all my other programs work fine. The S3 is known to cause problems with
some of the printer drivers I support, so I tried what I do to fix those
problems but this time for JFW. You might want to tone down the video
acceleration and turn off bitmap caching. Some programs don't like the
aceleration set at its highest level. Go to the control panel then choose
display andpress control-tab until you hear settings. Depending on your
video card adapter, you may now have to go to settings again or advanced.
Here you want a performance setting, then acceleration. This is a slider
button, I set it up for the setting just above none and then I turn off the
bitmap caching, it's usually in the same dialog box. Then you must reboot
the pc. Changing this setting allowed me to label one of my program's
graphics, but not the other one so go figure.-:) I know this sounds a bit
off the wall, but you can always change these settings back if they don't
solve the problem.
