Greetings all.
I have been investigating the same issue that we have with JFW 3.2 running
the Eloquence speech synth. supplied with JAWS. We have several users here
at Vision Australia Foundation who are experiencing slow speech response
when navigating around Windows 95 or using applications such as Microsoft
Office 97 and Lotus Notes. By slow speech response I mean pressing a key and
a good two seconds later, JAWS will announce the key. As you can appreciate,
our users have become quite
frustrated, especially when using word processing.
Our machines should be quite capable of running JAWS properly.
Their configurations are:
IBM Personal Computer 300GL (Desktop computer)
Pentium 200MMX
64Mb RAM
Western Digital AT22500 2.5 Gb Hard Drive (partitioned into 1.3 and 1.2Gb
respectively)
Built-In Ethernet network card
Cirrus Logic 5446 PCI Video card
A range of Sound Blaster and ESS Audio Soundcards
Either 15" or 21" IBM Monitors
Windows 95 Ver. 4.01.971C
JAWS for Windows Ver. 3.2 (3.20.31)
Can anyone offer any suggestions to speed Eloquence up?
Regards
Daniel Neubronner
