Hi Jim,
Do you have shortcut keys to other applications that act this way, or is
JFW the only one? After installing Internet Explorer 5.0, I lost the
ability to bring up apps with shortcut keys, and I was advised to uninstall
and then reinstall IE5. Since this seemed a little drastic on my 98
system, I decided to try the Internet Explorer 5 Repair Tool. I went to
Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and selected Microsoft Internet
Explorer 5.0 from the list. I then pressed Enter on the Add/Remove button,
and in the resulting dialog, I tabbed to the set of 3 radio buttons. I
pressed Up_Arrow to move the check from Restore the Previous Windows
Configuration to the Repair Internet Explorer radio button, and pressed
Enter on OK. After the process completed, I was told that the repair was
successful, and was prompted to reboot. I was happy to find upon rebooting
that all of my shortcut keys worked again. The Repair Tool checks the
various Internet Explorer files and makes sure that none are missing. If
it cannot make the repair, it will tell you so, and Internet Explorer 5
will need to be reinstalled.
I don't know if this will solve your particular problem, but I hope this
rather long message will help someone who may be having problems with
Internet Explorer 5 and may be considering reinstalling it. Try this first!
