I feel so indebted to you.
I never expected for you to go thru all that trouble.
It must have taken a good bit of your time to go thru the audio tape & type it into
the pc.
I haven't worked it out yet but I did want to reply & thank you so very, very much
for all your endeavors.
I printed your post in hardcopy Braille & will work from that.
It is my intention to put the keystrokes together in a list of instructions (if
possible) so it will be easy for others to work from.
I'll let you know when that happens.
Where do you live, Walter, on the west coast?
Do you use Braille or just speech?

Actually, I think that I made a slight mistake on them. I don't have the
instructions written down, but I got from my tape tutorial that Doug
Wakefield did.
Let me see if I can do this right.
1, control+esc
2, s for settings,
3, c for control pannel,
4 s for sounds,
That part was all easy. Now, you should have like two windows or boxes on
your screen. The left side is the functions. The right side is the sounds.
As you arrow down through those functions, there is the box on the right
that is changing, and you reach a function that you want to put a sound to,
you tab once, then you will hear a sound name, or if there is no sound
already assigned, you will hear none, now, you are suppose to be able to
backspace once, to make sure the edit box is clear, and that is all he had
to do to errase the name, but it don't work that way on my computer, I have
to backspace the whole name out, or press the delete key. I think that the
delete will clear it, but one of the other ways will. then you can type in
the name of the wav file, if you know it. In this case, if you make a
mistake and type the name of a wav file that does not exhist on your
computer, when you press enter, it will prompt that is not a qualified file
name, and do you want to put back the sound that was there before. If you
hit enter for yes, it will go back to whatever it was previously. When you
press enter, it will put you back in the events column. Now you can tab,
assuming that the right one is in there, and you will land on the wav file
name, which is the sound, Now if you want to hear it, tab twice more,
brows, details, and once more to preview. Since that is a graphic, and if
it is not laveled, it might not talk. On mine it has been labeled, and it
says sound. press enter on that button, and you will hear the sound.
After that if you don't want to do anymore, then you can tab to save as,
now press enter, and it will ask you for a name for a scheem. The scheem
is a list of wav files, and if you have not assigned any yourself, you
probably have a default name that you heard on the tab just before you got
to save as. You can either choose that default, or you can make one of
your own. I copied after wakefield, and called it my sounds. Now, when I
did this, I lost a couple of sounds on my daughter's computer, and had to
go back and reassign them. I did not loose any on mine. You will have to
delete the old name before typing in another one, because it does not seem
to knock it out. You could try it first, and if it knocks the old one out,
then fine, and if it does not, then either backspace or delete it out, and
type in the name again. Then tab to ok. Of course if you want to do more
than one, you don't have to go through this save as and ok step yet. I am
scarey, so I choose to do one then save it. Maybe when I get better at, I
will get braver. Now, let's back up to where you entered the wave
filename, not the scheem, and now let's assume that you don't know what
sound you want, here is where the fun starts. you tab once more from there
to brows, and press enter. it asks you for the name, and if you knew the
name you would not be browsing, so ignore that stupid question, Now, press
shift+tab, and you are now in the column of wav filenames. Arrow down, and
when you get to a sound that you might like, and you want to know what it
sounds like, press shift+f10, arrow down to play, which is once or twice,
press enter, and it will play the sound for you. If you don't like it,
continue to arrow down to another, and repeat the last step. Once you find
one that you like, if you like it, press tab to save as, press enter, and
if the sound scheem name is right, then tab to ok, and you are finished.
Close everything out with f4 is many times as it takes. I hope that you
can understand this. I was copying from the tape, and you can't copy word
for word from the tape, as he was going through the motions.
