Hello Ron and Listers.
Ron, I am very glad that you are having good luck with Access32 with a
relatively slow machine with somewhat limited memory. It is not that
Access32 will not work on such machines. Rather, it is how well the soft
synthesizer will perform when the CPU resources are heavily in demand by
other applications such as Word, Excel, WordPerfect and the like. If one
attempts to run several applications at once, or attempts to use
applications that are recognized memory hogs, Access32 simply does not have
adequate processing time allowed to it to perform in the way it can,
excellently, as I have pointed out. I would not at all recommend the soft
synthesizer route for those who run machines under 200MHZ, with less than
64 megs of ram. Everything is relative, of course. If you were to hear
how well Access32 performs on a machine, running at 450MHZ, with 128 megs
of ram, you would quickly comprehend my remarks. There can be no question
that, up to a point, the faster the machine and the more memory available,
the better will perform any soft synthesizer that, likewise, depends upon
CPU processing time.
