When I created the rule, I set it up so that the messages with attachments
went to the drafts folder. It's really much easier now to look for
attachments, because the only messages that ever wind up in that folder are
those with attachments. I just change to that folder with ctrl-Y, and in
fact, if there is a message in that folder, I'll hear that before I even
open the folder. So, when going to drafts, here's how it works. Ctrl-Y,
and then type the letter D twice. JFW first says "deleted items" and then
"drafts. If I hear the word Drafts by itself, gthere's nothing in the
folder. If there is a message or messages, JFW will say "drafts, ( and a
number followed by ). So if there's 3 messages with attachments, JFW says
"drafts(3) and I press enter, and a subsequent list comes up. I then type
insert-A, and JFW places me on the list of attachments where the arrow keys
can be used to highlight the attachment desired. If they are in Word format
with a doc extension, I can press enter and Word is loaded with the
appropriate attachments. If they were txt files, I assume Notepad would be
loaded with the associated file. I certainly would not want attachments
going to the Windows\temp folder for obvious reasons. I clean that out
every chance I get. I don't recall seeing an option to change this, but
with all of the options available, it certainly is possible that one could
change where attachments go. I don't know of an ini file to accomplish this
change either, but if I discover something, I'll let you know. My rule for
now is a great solution! Well, I've started opening messages without the
preview pane. The focus problem is enough to make me stop using that pane;
it is a real pain! It seems like messages in HTML format seem to trigger
this problem. Anyway, I'm trying it. I'm on my way to Buffalo on a 6:30
bus, so I'm up early reading mail before I get ready to leave. I was
involved in about 10 different projects in the office yesterday; the phone
didn't stop ringing. Business is good. Take care.
