I can appreciate the problem, as I just spent a significant amount of
time researching the best lap-top to work with JAWS. There are so many
models and even more options to choose from.
As many have mentioned here, the IBM ThinkPad's keyboard configuration is
extremely helpful. It has separated arrow, function, and six pack keys. In
addition, its NeoMagic graphics chipset has given me no interaction probs
with JFW.
They have a good service plan and a good on board set of audio speakers.
The power of the speakers can be important for running software synths.
Processor speed also makes a significant difference for software synths.
Any pII should be ample But to my knowledge, pIII processors aren't in
laptops yet. Having enough ram is also important. I use a 600E.
