I was requested to fill out a survey form that was written in word97 and am
using the current version of jfw 3.3 for that purpose.
The first problem I encountered was an inability to move the applications
cursor off the survey title.
So I use jaws cursor and track app cursor to jaws cursor to work around that
problem.
Next, questions appear on the form each with an initial answer.
clicking on that answer opens up a context menu containing expected choices.
Selecting a choice from the context menu is successful in changing the
answer to the new choice.
The problem is you have to move with the cursor onto what is the answer; jfw
cannot find it for you even if insert-home-tab is used. insert-f8 also
fails.
A second problem comes when trying to check multiple choices for a single
question.
Check all that apply and you have more than one to check.
jfw does not identify checked entries and this kind of question is the kind
that if you move onto a choice it is checked then hitting the spacebar
toggles the check off and on.
Visually obvious but not obvious to jfw.
checks appear to the left of text describing choices.
Don't know what kind of class that is either.
It gets very difficult to move down onto questions lower in the survey
because jfw conttinually locks the cursor to the title.
This cursor locking happens whether office assistant is on or off.
What I'd like to know is if I can adjust settings in word and/or jfw to have
surveys and forms work better than this or are these ongoing problems with
word scripts?
Also is it likely the survey was designed poorly? If the survey wasn't put
together right,
no amount of adjusting things with jfw and word and win98 will improve
things.
