How fast is your computer? If you have a slower machine (a
pentium 100 or slower) there probably isn't much you can do about this
problem if you are using a software synth. The solution I am about to
outline below will not be effective if you are using a hardware synth or
your machine is a slower system.
If you are using software, such as eloquence, open control panel,
go to multimedia, select the advanced tab and in the tree view find the
tree called media control devices. Open the tree and select the wave
control device. This may be named something else depending on your
soundcard manufacturer, but it should say something like wave or sound
control. Tab to the properties button and press space. You will get a
dialog with information regarding your soundcard and it will say that it is
for wave output. Tab to the settings button and move the scroll bar in
there all the way to the right. This increases the amount of memory that
Windows sets aside for buffering wave data to the soundcard, which should
reduce the stuttering effect quite a bit.
