I've often wished that there were a third kind of script as follows:
1. default scripts; 2. application scripts; and 3. user scripts.
This third type of script would be the user's scripts and modifications and
would have the file extension of jus for source and jub for compiled
scripts.
This way there would be no need to merge scripts or anything.
Oh well, maybe some day.
