Hello Linnie and listers.
Linnie, noisy volume controls eventually have to be replaced, although
there are temporary solutions that, for a time, at least, eliminate the
eratic behavior of the controls. Blowing air through the system will not
help at all. All audio technicians have, on their shelves, arisol cans of
a deoxification spray that temporarily cleans the components of volume
controls. This is very easy to do and requires no expertise with respect
to Dectalk Express units. Those units normally, however, must be
dissassembled a bit to gain access to the noisy controls. Take your unit
to a stereo shop and, within minutes, and probably for little cost, they
will give you a temporary fix. The problem is that, although the cleaning
normally does the trick for a while, there is also wear and tear on the
control that no spray will overcome.
Good luck.
Regards.
Jerry
