dum question

Hello every one,  I was just wondering about scan disk and disk
difragmenter.  People were talking about it before.  I want to no if I
should shut off JAWS when I run these programs.  When I have run them in the
past; I never had problems, but I don't want Any thing to go wrong now.
What's the best thing to do.  Thanks for all the help you guise have given
me.
