Funny how some subjects seem to pop up everywhere at once!
Last Friday I ran into my first roadblock with Citrix and Metaframe. I was
sifting through the list to see if anyone had mentioned it and, sure enough,
here it is! I installed JFW 3.30.26 on a PC running Citrix and logged on to
the network to try and run a custom application used by customer service
employees. I got absolutely nothing out of the screen reader. When I called
HJ tech support, the response was depressingly blunt and final. They stated
that JFW will absolutely not work with terminal server systems such as
Citrix and Metaframe. In fact, they said, they didn't know of any screen
reader application that would do so.
As far as I could understand, in a terminal/server system, all application
processing is done on the remote server and your local PC is nothing more
than a dumb terminal receiving video and sending keystrokes/mouse signals. A
screen reader, apparently, has nothing to work with. I asked the Citrix
support person if things would work by having JFW installed on the server.
He very patiently informed me that I wasn't in Kansas any more.
Unless someone here knows otherwise, it feels like a dead end! This is
really bad since, according to the Citrix support person, the use of these
sorts of systems is growing. Has anyone on the list learned much concerning
this?

Hello everyone,

does anyone work from home using Citrix Metaframe or PC Anywhere to link to
their network at the office?
