This is most definitely a Microsoft Outlook issue. Outlook 98 is very much
integrated in to the office 97 suite of software. Many of the problems with
outlook 98 will disappear if you follow these steps. First be certain you
are running the latest version of office 97, if not than you need to install
the two service packs issued by Microsoft sr1 and sr2 be aware that sr2 is a
23 meg file which unless you have a high speed connection will take you
almost an entire night to download. Next you need the last release of
outlook 98 released by Microsoft this is far more difficult to find and just
as difficult to know which release you have. I still am not certain of the
version I have, but most of my problems have disappeared so I assume I am
running one of the last versions. One other problem I had was the 4.02
mcaffee virus engine and outlook 98 conflicted so I had to download and
install the 4.03 engine. It would not surprise me if other programs have
similar problems. Last remember you are dealing with a Microsoft product
this is an opinion, but I have yet to work with any software produced by
Microsoft which is stable. Remember if the operating system will crash at
the slightest excuse than nothing else you can do to the system will make
one bit of difference. That is why I will not use any Microsoft software on
critical servers for my company. Good luck.an
