Hi there. Have you tried adding the line:
switches=/c
to the end of your config.sys file? Also, if you have ansi.sys loaded, make
certain to use the /r switch for it. Add that after the device=ansi.sys
Assuming JFD has been installed correctly, that should be all you need to
do. One thing else would be to check that your Dectalk driver is loaded. I
can't remember how that was done. I believe it's usually also part of the
autoexec.bat or config.sys files. You may also want to try Tinytalk out. It
takes up less memory than JFD.

Subject: dectalk express in dos boxes with jfw and jfd
I installed jfw and jfd. When I boot, both come up speaking. If I enter
a dos box, I hear garbage. I made sure the "use dos screen reader for
speech" was checked in default configureation of config manager. Please
help. I am in an intro to programming course which is using qbasic, so I
need GOOD dos access, which is why jfw won't work on its own.
THanks in advance for any help you can give.
Michael
