Might I recommend to those who wish to more carefully monitor what
changes are made when installing new software, try a package called
ConfigSafe (http://www.configsafe.com). It monitors (snapshots) the
registry, win.ini, system.ini, protocol.ini, and a few other goodies.
I can produce reports or display information on the screen about what
was changed, who changed it, what the old values were, what the new
values are, etc., etc., and it has the ability to put things back the
way they were if you don't like the changes. Of course, if you choose
to put things back the way they were, things that run today might not
run after the next reboot, but if something broke, you can put it
back. Saved me bacon more than once and well worth the modest
registration fee.
