    One thing you might try is to set OE 5 to delete messages from the
deleted items folder on exit.  You may or may not want this feature, but if
it works for you, try it.
    Here's how.  In the main OE window, go to  the tools menu and press o
for options.  Control tab till you hear maintenance.   The empty deleted
messages option should be the first tab control you come to.
