Hi all,
When I first joined this list, I saw tons of messages on successful use of
the s b live sound card. And believing that i could learn whatthe
smarter folks obviously knew already,I was eager to use my s b live
sound card.
So after getting the s b live sound card, I had the right drivers
including the first upgrade after the drivers on the C D--commonly
referredto as "the 9 x" drivers and the 2.0 and 2.1 set.
Well, I even bought the 3.0 drivers.
Well, as the web page says, i learned from 2 people at Creative Labs Tech
Suppport that one should probably remove earlier drivers if one is to use
the 3.0 driver. Wasted money there. But i was assured--by the same Tech
Support people prior to purchase-- the 3.0 would work with speech with no
stuttering. Wrong.
I hear from people who have used the 3.0 that some stuttering has
increased.
and on the Eloquence issue. One can "disable" but not "remove" the Dos
emulation with the s b live. So that situation has meant for friends of
mine that gradually their Eloquence becomes compromised over time.
Now having said all that, one person *did warn me about problems with the s
b live sound card.
Can any one suggest a good dual channel sound card that works well with
a head set and where the microphone can be installed directly into the
card?
Look, I don't mind it at all--if people "prove me wrong". but in the cause
of fairness here, I think I needed to mention what others have told
me--which includes my 5 sessions with the s Live b Tech Support people.
their attitude to the 3.0 causing more stuttering is "so what".
So i called the company and asked to hear from people working to develop
the software. another "so what". I guess it's one step forward and two
steps back.
If this post helps some one else, that is why i wrote it.
Hoping that *I am wrong* but looking for a sound card that is much
easier to configure and much more reliable.
have a nice day.
