Hi Jef:
I have Openbook (ruby edition) and Textbridge 98, along with a HP5100
scanner:
1. The Openbook is a bit easier for the beginner but at a price, cost:
$1,000.
2. Textbridge 98 works very well with JFW and for $69, this is a commercial
program from Xerox.
3. I don't think you can find the HP 5100 any longer but you can get the HP
5200 (about $300).

I bought Openbook several years ago, before Textbridge was developed and
have been buying the upgrades. If I were just starting I would probably go
with the Textbridge (for the price). Now the Openbook does have features
that Textbridge does not have and if money is not a concern then go for
Openbook.

Thanks,
George Marshall

Subject: scanner question

Hello to all on the list. I am shopping around for a scanner that will work
well with JFW 3.3, and Win-98. I will be using this to access printed
materials such as handouts and books ETC, and I was just wondering what
works best with JFW? Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.
