To set the record straight, I was wrong on this one, well technically wrong
anyway.  IT is possible to read while scanning apparently, just not with a
software synth.  That isn't exactly correct either, though for practical
purposes it is, I guess I just got impatient, hit scan and speech dies until
the scan finishes .  To me it is the same thing as not being able to read
while scanning but the manual clearly states it is not.

Sorry if I have mislead anyone, and wasted the resources of the list.
Further, it is only a JFW issue in so much as  RUBY really doesn't run with
JFW.
