I'm using JAWS 3.3 and have found it to be very helpful while using various
word processing programs. But I have found that it often runs into trouble
when I try to use many other programs.

I tried using Merriam Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 10th ed., and JAWS
didn't do so well. Specifically, the Insert-6 command to read word by word
would not move me from word to word. Instead, it moved character by
character and spoke the word with each character move until the end of the
word. More generally, the program was designed such that it was cumbersome
to move around while using JAWS. One problem encountered here and elsewhere
is the arrangement of text in multiple columns which tend to either limit
cursor access or confuse the reader.

So, my question is this: with which programs will I find JAWS to be of
functional use? I know Internet Explorer is helpful for internet use. Can
anyone provide a list of programs that are best in conjunction with JAWS?
Or, can anyone simply recommend certain programs, such as a dictionary,
encyclopedia, financial software, calendar, date book, etc., that work the
best?

Any help would be appreciated.
