I have read numerous procedures for creating a hotkey to run an application.
Most of these explanations were complicated, including my own, which I
recently posted to this list. I have finally identified a much easier way
of creating hotkeys, so I am submitting this here. Let's use JFW 3.31.35
for our example. This assumes JFW is already installed on your system.
1. Bring up the start menu with the left Windows key, or type
Control-Escape if you don't have a Windows keyboard.
2. Type P for Programs.
3. Type the letter J until you hear "JFW 331 submenu" and press enter.
4. You will be on the Jaws icon. Press Shift-F10 to bring up the context
menu. While you may not hear anything, trust that you are where you need to
be.
5. Use the up arrow key once and you will hear properties, then press
enter.
6. You are in the properties sheet for JFW. Tab twice and you are in the
field to assign your hotkey, so go ahead and assign a key and press enter.
That's it; you've assigned a hotkey for running JFW 3.31.35. Much less
keystrokes, and it works! I've assigned 3 applications in this manner, and
it's a breeze. Try it, you'll like it!
