When I bought this computer a year ago I had the only CD drive a DVD drive.
It functions just as any CD drive, the DVD is totally transparent. I have
not played movies on it however so can't help you there.
You should be able to pull your original CD drive out of the case, install
the new deive and controller and what ever software drivers and away you go.
Don't know of any reason why you would need or even want to keep your old
CD-ROM drive in the computer since you can't copy to it or anything else
particularly useful, maybe to keep lots of of pictures constantly on line or
something but I can't see any good reason to have two CD drives on the same
machine.
