I have just been assigned the task of acquiring a DeskTop workstation for a
Windows 95 network. Obviously I intend to use JFW as the access software,
probably Eloquence for some of the speech but thought, since the opportunity
is there that I would go ffor a DecTalk. For maximum flexibility, that is
to go from computer to computer about the place an external device is
probably the best answer however my nearest access technology location is a
good 800 kilometres distant, I cannot practically examine or test devices,
so I am looking for advice on a couple of issues.
1. External DecTalks: What is available and what sorts of
advantages/disadvantages might I expect? I have heard of the Dec Express,
is there anything else? A Web address where I can read about their specs
would be good too.
2. Braille transcription software: I have heard of Duxbury, anywone have a
Web address? Are there any JFW related issues? Are there other Windows
based alternative applications? Any advice where I should go looking?
Off list assistance may be more appropriate.
