Dinging Computer, I have the same problem every once in a while.
I have found an easy cure! I simply take the mouse and run the cursor
to the left side of the screen and start pushing the left mouse button,
as I push the button I keep moving the mouse. Some where in this
process I will get a louder ding and the computer starts to talk, all is
then OK. I find that when the dinging stops I am in some different
screen than when the dinging started, but no matter it stops the dinging
and returns the computer to my control.
By doing this I don't have to shut down the computer or look for sighted
help.
Apparently I get into some kind of a loop and this operation stops it.
