Numbering in Word
1       Choose Menu bar then format (or Alt o)
2       Bullets and numbering
3       Shift TAB to select from the menu tabs in Bullets & Numbering
4       choose bullets, numbering or Outline with right arrow
5       TAB to list of number styles (first one is NONE) - NB:  current correct
format for numbering is 1 2 3 without fullstops
5       TAB to OK
