All you have to do is this:

Bring up the format menu with alt-o.
arrow down to bullets and numbers and press Enter.
Press shift-tab once to hear whether you're on the bullets, numbered, or
outlined numbered part of the dialog. This is one of those multi-page
dialogs.

If you're not on the numbered dialog, if it says bullets, or if it says
outlined numbered, then do a right arrow to get to the numbered dialog.

Now press Tab. It should say None.

To change to the numbers, press right-arrow. There are several choices for
numbering. So do right arrow and left arrow to hear the different options.
Once you're on the one you want, press Enter.
