I'd suggest there is a problem with the shortcut for the dos prompt.
this does not sound like a jfw problem, but what exactly happens when
you use the shortcut? I surmise that what needs doing is to press
alt+enter when you launch the shortcut so that you are in window mode
for the dos session.
