Hello again,
Maybe I've got a solution to that checkmark. Please try for yourself and
let me know if it worked. Here it comes. I hope I say it right, because I'm
not very sure about the English terms -I've the Dutch version-. Besides,
I've jaws 3.2 so the procedures or shortcut keys may well be different from
your 3.5 version?!
- Start eudora and be sure you've got new, unread mail!
- Then you've got to start JAWS config. manager. I think the english name
is maybe a bit different, but the shortcut is INSERT+6.
- Go to the menu bar and choose change -again I'm not totally sure about
the name, but in my versoin, 3.2, it's the second from the left- settings
and in the list choose graphics and symbols. There you have to mark "all
graphics", then press enter and go back to eudora.
In eudora again:
- check if you can see the graphic now (alt+X, read the list).
- you change to JAWS-cursor (laptop: ALT+P, desktop: NUM-MIN).
- go with the arrowkeys to the graphic you want to define -maybe some help
is useful here-. This graphic is in the maibox menu, before the folder
containing your new mail.
- to check if it's the right graphic, press ALT+KOMMA (laptop) or NUM-5
(desktop) -say character-..
- open the graphics labeler (laptop: ALT + G, desktop INSERT+G)
- there you type the name you want to give to this graphic, p.e. "new mail"
or "new message" or whatever. Tab once and give a name which your braille
device can read -if you have any-
- you've got to choose if you want to save this for only this applicatoin
or all applications.
- go to OK, press enter.
- go back to eudora and try!
That's it. I hope you've understand it in spite of my bad English, and in
spite of my Dutch JAWS!

Subject: Eudora Pro 4.2 and JFW 3.5
I am disappointed that a long-standing issue with JFW has not yet been
addressed, namely that when you arrow down the list of mailboxes in Eudora
Pro's mailbox menu, JFW does not speak the checkmark that identifies
whether there are new messages waiting in that mailbox. This would be nice
to have fixed.
Snappy response though and there are some great improvements.
