Respected members of this group,

I have been reading the views from various
members of this group on the subject “Tatas
sucking the blood out of Orrisa.”

Well ladies and gentlemen, I appreciate all efforts. At least some of us are
worried about the poverty of poors (mainly tribals) and backwardness of some
ore rich Indian states (Jharkhand, Orrisa, Chattishgarh). Otherwise I know most
of educated / rich / high class people think “AAG LAGE BASTI MEI, HUM RAHEN
MASTI MEI.”

It is very difficult for a person to estimate or feel the pain / problems of
poors and the reason of poverty, unless and until he / she experiences the same
situation. Bhai log, yahan PC ya laptop ke samne baithke dislocation /
exploitation ke shikar logon ke bare likhna bahut asan hai.

There is no doubt that the business giants like Tata / sterlite / Reliance
etc are sucking blood of poors or locals for their exploration / production
activities. No one is blaming them for sucking blood, this is a fact. Tatas are
taking Ores / Minerals from Orissa / Jharkhand and doing very less for the
local people / tribes in these States. All those were listed in the first mail
on this topic.

Well, the natural resources like Hematite / Magnetite / Siderite / Bauxite /
Chromium / Mica / Coal / Uranium or other ores /mineral are to be explored /
exploited for manufacture of various products such as MS / CS / SS / Al / Cu /
power for domestic or industrial use. Akhir hum kab tak PASHAN YUG mei rahte!!
These ores are state or public properties. Par aap beshak inki kudayi kijiye,
par uske liye jo apne paitrik jamin se vistapith ho rahe hain, usko lath mar
kar nahin. Unko apne jagah se hatane bad unke sahi punarwas ka to intjam
kijiye.

Normally, the locals are uneducated. Then they are paid off some tiny amounts
for their lands. Punarwas ka to koi solid solution hota nahin. Unko koi 4th
grade job dekar mamla thanda kar diya jata hai.

Beshak, aap mauke ka advantage lijiye, but I don’t support the funda of “KISI
KI PET PE LATH MARKAR APNA MAAL BADAO.”

I am also agreed, that there are some formalities, rules & regulations for
land acquisitions for setting up mines / rigs / plants etc. These business
houses are established only after GOVERNMENT approvals.

But do you know the “actual” procedure for all these? These are only paper
work. You may not be knowing because you might be working in Software Company
or sitting in US. Great Individual achievement. Ye saare kaam sirf laptop /
computer mei design / email / copy-paste karne se nahin hota. Iske piche
business giants / administrative officers / public servants / politicians ke
beech crores ka game hota hai. Permission can be obtained from the competent
authority such as OISD, State Pollution Control Board, Factories Inspectorate,
concerned ministry etc. easily. Otherwise, tell me the name of any local /
villager who knows about policies / MoUs etc. And ultimately the dislocated
people suffer like beggars. They are never paid the sufficient and reasonable
amount.

Sometimes, I think that ki ye Relliance / Tata / Birla walon ka last 10 years
mei hi turnover / market capitalization itna kyun bada? There is no doubt that
Ambanis, Tatas, Birlas have worked very hard; they have expanded their business
like anything; they are giving employment to many people, they are paying huge
taxes to govt.; but one question still arises in my mind, how do they grow in
this tremendous speed!! Answer is the high profit margin. May be it is because
of them that India has shown so much of progress over the last couple of years,
but the customers, backward and poors (even middle class) are still deceived.
They have forgotten the India in the name of Global Competition or business
expansion. Rate of exploitation of the ores / minerals have tremendously
increased. Their business has grown up and they have made huge money, but what
is the status of locals?

Do you think that boom in software / electronic / steel / automobile industry
is the real progress? Bhailog, ek ordinary citizen ko IT boom / 20000 sensex ka
matlab samjh mei nahin aata. Kuch fark nahin padta usko. Uske liye real
progress is his cultivation. Yaar, main ya aap software / steel kha nahin
sakte. Zinda rahne ke liye Rice, wheat, vegetables etc. chahiye. There are lots
of things to do for farmers. Employment doesn’t mean only govt. / private job /
engineering / medical / law / software job; it also includes agriculture.

Partho, I also agree that “Manushya apane bhagya ka nirmata swaym hai." But I
also believe that for a poor, the richer one also play part in his poverty.
From the very beginning of human civilization, weaker / poor sections have been
exploited by the stronger / richer section of society, just like animals.
History khol ke dekho, aapko yahi milega. Raja-Maharaja ke zamane se lekar,
Zamindar, Angrezon ke time se lekar abhi tak. Only the system and ways for
exploiting the weaker / poor section has changed.

Richer / educated people are very smart. Smart in the way that they can
present what they not actually are. They will talk in terms of the development
of nation, not in terms of self benefit. Exploitation / injustice being done
towards the poors / tribals / locals by the business giants behind the false
motive of progress. Two Ambanis, a premji, etc are the richest Indians with
worth more than lakhs of crores and 50 crores Indians have annual income less
than 50 thousand!! Why is this huge gap? No doubt these giants are providing
food to 100000 families. But ultimately they have exploited the nature, the
locals, and 100 crore Indians by the way of pollution / dislocation / keeping
high profit margin!!

Dears, in business houses ne nature ki baat laga ke rakhi hai. Tons of
pollutants (poisonous, toxic gases, harmful radioactive radiations, effluents,
chemicals, acids, bases, dust, noise etc.) are released into environment (Air,
water, land) in the name of national development. No doubt, there are state
control boards (like GPCB, APPCB, WBPCB etc), emission norms, I know how they
are achieved on papers. Pollution jitna last 15 years mei bada hai, utna uske
pahle ke crore years mei bhi nahin huwa hoga. Greentech award rupye dekar liye
jate hain. Aur industrial pollution ki maar jyadatar in locals ya gareebon pe
hi padti hai. Rich ke paas Aquaguard hain, water purifier hain, gareeb ke paas
kya hai!!

As far the development is concerned, I think development should be referred
to a situation where all people should be getting sufficient food and cloth,
good health and a house for shelter. And, not a situation that one Ambani has
lakhs crore as personal assets and 50 crore people are earning less than 50000
annually. There should be some uniformity / equality. For this you have to
thrust on development in agriculture sector also.

One thing I don’t understand, that why the only poors are targeted for
establishing plants / SEZs etc. Why forcible bloodful acquisitions take place
like Nandigram, Kalingnagar etc. Poors / tribals ka ghar ujadkar aap cities mei
fountain park, AC office, hospital banate hain. Logon ko pine ke liye pani
nahin milta aur aap fountain park mei pani barbad kar rahe hain. Kiriburu,
Guwa, Chiriya, Badampahar, jhariya, Gurumahisani se aap Hematite (iron ore) /
Coal to nikal lete hain lekin aap wahan ke locals ke liye ek free quality
school / hospital nahin bana sakte hain!! Aap hospital bhi banate hain to
Jamshedpur / Mumbai walon ke liye, jahan aap moti fees le lete hain.

Bhai, ye to sarasar na-insafi hai.

            Sincerely Yours
  M.Maheshwar
