Dear Hindutvavadis (if you don't mind my using that term for you),

I completely agree that anyone who used violence to subvert our constitution
are to be completely condemned. So I condemn the Maoists for taking the path
of violence absolutely and totally. More so because they provide the space
for the rightwing forces to tar all progressives as maoists, terrorists and
extremists.

I do think that Hindutva poses a greater threat to Indian nationhood and
Indian constitution - both because it is like a cancer in the body politic
and because it is so good at camouflaging itself. The maoists are but
children in front of the rightwing fundamentalism. Compare the space and
legitimacy the Bajrang Dal enjoys in India - are they any less violent then
maoists with non-hindus. Yes these forces don't need to fight the state-
because they are taking it from within - as right wing always does - through
coup or politics. Hitler was selected through democratic processes too.

Democracy is a fragile political system.

Regards

Nachiketa
