The tragedy is Jaipur is a repitition of similar tragedies in India fomented by the ideologies of hatred based on religious identity. My heart goes out to the people who have been affected by this dastardly act perpetrated by terrorists who believe in killing innocents discriminately. I spent my day frantically trying to get in touch with and talking to relatives in Jaipur- who thankfully are safe.
One can forgive Ven for his intemperate statements against me, given the anger that all of us feel at this horrendous and cruel act and the pain that we feel for the people who have been killed or injured. To lose one's loved one in such situations can test our faith in the goodness of humanity itself. Unfortunately, Ven's anguish and pain, has led him to the same roads which the perpetrators of this violence tread. This is an outcome of his ideological beliefs and his sense of identity, which is that of a hindutvavadi before being a human being, an Indian or even a Hindu. In exactly the same way in which the anger and ideological brainwashing of the youth who must have made the bombs and placed them in cycles and cars, and blow up innocents. Terrorists are not born, they are made. One has to not only address the infrastructure of terrorism, but also the ideologies that brainwash people into terrorism. Unfortunately Ven just illustrated one of these ideologies which is prospering amongst our midst. My own request to Ven is that don't equate my opposition to Hindutva to an opposition to the hindu religion. I forgive you for targetting me in anger.
