The Nange Paon Satyagrah brought a case of fake arrest before the notice of the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi four years back i.e. during September 2004. On 18/09/2004, Sri Ashok Kuzur T.I. Police Station Rajpur in Surguja district made four innocent people languish in jail for a period of three months. Srimati Sonamati, Srimati Bajari, Sri Sagar Dass all residents of Atori village and Sri Satya Narayan Yadav of Khatwa Bardar village were branded as naxlites and produced before Court. On 13 December, 2004 they were bailed out and on 3 June, 2005 they were acquitted. On 26/03/2008, NHRC passed an order addressed to the Chief Secretary Chhattisgarh to ensure payment of Rs.25000/ to each of these victims as compensation by 02/05/2008. But even after, a month no compensation has been paid. Case number was 217/33/2004-2005.
