The Nange Paon Satyagrah brought a case of fake – arrest before the notice of the National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi four years back i.e. during September 2004. On 18/09/2004, Sri Ashok Kuzur T.I. Police Station Rajpur in Surguja district made four innocent people languish in jail for a period of three months. Srimati Sonamati, Srimati Bajari, Sri Sagar Dass all residents of Atori village and Sri Satya Narayan Yadav of Khatwa – Bardar village were branded as naxlites and produced before Court. On 13 December, 2004 they were bailed out and on 3 June, 2005 they were acquitted. On 26/03/2008, NHRC passed an order addressed to the Chief Secretary Chhattisgarh to ensure payment of Rs.25000/ to each of these victims as compensation by 02/05/2008. But even after, a month no compensation has been paid. Case number was 217/33/2004- 2005.
