Has anyone cared to study the genesis of this problem and several so called
"freedom of Press" protagonists have been invited to address the meet?
Mr.Mathur, an upright and strict IPS officer throughout his career, has been
appointed as Commissioner of Police. The Dept. is aware how this non-corrupt
officer who would not tolerate "non-sense" had created many enemies in the
dept. and public including media, out to get sensational news from every spot.
TOI had launched personal vilification attacks of Mathur from day-1 he took
charge as Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad. This attack continued for three
consecutive days in three column front page top head-line attacking him
alleging his connections with underworld..etc.
The allegation was a statement made by one of the underworld functionary
without any evidence of his intimacy with don Latif, and we are aware how these
criminals are waiting to implicate honest Police officers, whom they are scared
of!!
The incident prominently cited was the underworld don Latif surrounded in his
locality by DCP Geeta Johri and her team under the approval of Mr.Mathur. It is
alleged that Latif escaped the net and others were captured.
DID THE CORRESPONDENT MAKE ANY EFFORTS TO INVESTIGATE HOW THE DREADED DON
ESCAPED though the entire area was cordoned off by the Police? Was Mathur
responsible for the escape or the red beaconed Ambassador with dark glasses
which came there and took LATIF away?
Were any Politicians involved? Why didn't the media meet Geeta Johri and get
the information from her how Latif escaped?
A number of skeletons from Congress Cupboards would have fallen out if this
was opened. And Geeta Johri is very much in Ahmedabad as a SIT investigation
team headed by Raghavan of CBI.
Do not denigrate an upright Police Officer. The media is doing a great
disservice to Society by such "hitting below the belt" activity of TOI and its
upstart youngsters who are yet to learn the nuances of journalism.
The organisers as well as speakers chosen, have definite hidden agendas
destabilise Gujarat Govt., to blame Narendra Mody for the situation, which they
have been unsuccessfully carrying on with funds received from evangelical
groups abroad since Mody came to power as CM in Gujarat.
TOI has lost its reputation as an impartial and unbiassed reporting newspaper
and has turned to be a mouthpiece of anti-BJP and anti-Mody forces working in
Gujarat, to upset the apple cart of fast economic progress of the State, the
Centre and other non-BJP ruled States are envious of. Perhaps the change in
ownership of the Bennet Colemann group to Swiss and Italian businesses/
evangelical groups has led to this biassed reportings by TOI group including
