Your analysis gives the clue why all attempts by the Sangh Parivar and
Shudhi Andolan (prurification movement) by Arya Samaj have failed to
convert people of other religions to Hinduism. If some one is willing to
convert himself to Hinduism, what will be his caste after the conversion?
There is no authority that can assign to him the caste the new comer
wants. He will like to enter some upper caste fold rather than becoming a
Dalit.
Second, the caste oppression and discrimination have been, for centuries,
pushing people out of the fold of Hinduism to other religions. Through
reservations and other economic measures the downtrodden can be lifted up,
but upliftment in the social hierarchy is next to impossible.
Burning churches and demolishing Babri Masjid may bring votes of the
gullible temporarily. Look at Ayodhya, why is the self-declared party of
Rambhaktas is not able to win at the hustings there even though it wiped
out the "kalank" after 475 years?
The Parivar never takes up economic issues concerning the people at large
because this will hurt the mundane gods it serves. In Delhi there has been
a campaign against sealings and demolitions of unauthorised constructions
but not a finger raised against the entry of big capital in retail trade,
threatening the livelihood of hundreds of thousands of small traders. Ram
Sethu, Amarnath and religious conversions are the issues convenient enough
to make the petty shopkeepers not see their real enemies and divert their
energy elsewhere.
