Both christian and Hindutva missionaries denigrate tribal customs and traditions in Kandhmal - for example, one word that Swami Laxmananand always used was "ku-sanskar" for many kandha tribal traditions including ritual brewing and drinking. The Hindutva people differ in their approach of coopting the tribal cosmology and deities - but as inferior ones.
