Something needs to be done about the Birhor, and it needs to be done now. Tomorrow may be too late. I have met a Birhor community in Bhadua, in the hills of Purbi Singbhum. I have never seen human defeat so on-your-face. Making them dependent on government food rations is at best a short term solution. Can we not think of something more dignified? Anyone listening?? But we need to stop this type of deaths. At the same time, please stop using the work "primitive" tribe. It is outdated and patronising. Walter
