Dear Bidyut and others
Tribals are not Hindus is also known to all those Hindus who with ill
intentions in their mind for political games they play in the name of religion
are taking the benefit of the poverty and simple nature of tribals.
I fully agree with Gladson that no body has defined the religion of tribals but
that does not mean that tribals do not have their own religion to follow. Even
those who have converted to Christianity also perform Sarna Puja and celebrate
the same as all others.
It is time we must make sincere efforts to write about tribals and bring them
to history. With tribal university coming in at few states, it would be
interesting to see that they include such faculty that encourage
anthropologists to do enough research work and also to clear the doubts from
the minds of few fundamentalists who are out to label tribals as Hindus who
have their own perspective to look at tribals with greedy eyes.
Adivasis do worship "Siba" who is a tribal god and Hindus worship him and
now use his name for political gains. Celebrating each others religion in our
country is common. We have holidays on Ids, Diwali, Christmas and Guru Nanak
janati where we mix together irrespective of caste creed and religion amongst
our friends from all those religions. Just as Bidyut being a Hindu celebrates
X-mas goes to church with his christian friends. What is wrong in this? But
this does not mean that Bidyut is a Christian or we are of that religion or
this religion or this is that and that is this. Unfortunately, as stated
earlier, I am sorry to say that few fundamentalist faces in this forum too
takes pride in declaring tribals as Hindus which needs to be criticized in the
strongest possible words. No body has given them any license to say anything
that emerges in their mind. The topic being sensitive, role of moderators is
also very important and must censor the
nonsense that is dumped here.
