Initially, I was thinking that people are responsible for this.
But, the do-nothing Government(s) are responsible for overlooking such social
crimes;guilty of not enforcing as well.
It is police's job to enforce the law & home minister's job to seek statistical
report.
You go and find out, the 'Debdasi' wouldn't be in his monitoring list.
Had the minister been seeking annual Debadasi report from each police station,
the inspectors,DSP,SP would be under pressure..
Incredible India and its ministers..
An Example
This is a real story of the sleeping of Chief Minister and Law Minister of
Orissa, on a sensitive temple entry issue, where Dalits are not allowed to
temples. There was an initiative , in which, a decision taken by CM himself,
was ignored by CM, leading to current chaotic riots. Please read all the
opinions and actions and then Vote. Shankaracharys of Puri was ready to help.
The National Vice-President BJP, Shri Jual Oram supported this, followed by
several eminent personalities.
Permanent solution to riots:
Stop discrimination between upper & lower caste - amend the temple entry laws
and implement them against the wishes of Gajapati/Puri pandas.Shankaracharya of
Puri will come to rescue of Government, if requested. Ban conversions and
instead allow keeping bible / Jesus idol/photo at home of interested people.
Means, non-technically they can practice Christianity but technically they
should remain Hindu.
Once such revolutionary steps are taken, Dalits , after getting proper status,
will never interested to go to Jesus and missionaries will return to their
country after hopeless and unsuccessful campaigning.
Now question comes, whether such an initiative has been thought. YES.

Sub: Opening of Temples of Orissa to all people irrespective of their religion
and caste.
Respected Sir,
It is humiliating for us that we are still called civilized and still not
following the basic principles of Hinduism - "The world is my family".
Whenever I was a kid I heard that our late prime minister Smt Indira Gandhi was
not allowed inside lord Jagannath temple of PURI as she was not a Hindu. I felt
proud at that time that we have such a temple where only Hindus are allowed.
Now after 20 years - when I came out of Orissa , have seen almost 1/2 of India
and now at USA, I see - what we have done to late Indira Gandhi is not a matter
of Pride - but a matter of Shame. religion doen't teach us to hate or
discriminate between human beings. Great precedent set by Lord Ram by eating
food from a Tribal and Lord Jagannath by waiting for Bhakta Salabega in a Car
festival day.
Currently, we felt bad that one of the foreign head of state and his wife also
are not allowed to enter the temple even though one of them is a Hindu.
We have discussed this issue in our intellectual group and we all are in
agreement - that whoever has created the entry rule for the temple is a
fundamentalist Hindu and is the rule must be changed.
Also, we are surprised to see that in left pillar of the Lion's Gate has an
inscription in English "Only othodox Hindus are allowed. We request you all to
arrange an all party meeting including the Shankaracharya, Gajapati Maharaja of
PURI (no Pandas please) and direct the temple management to remove that board.
Instruction should be given to the temple management to allow people of all
religions to seek blessings of lord jagannath.
