Dear Senthil and all,
Let us do the best what we can in the capacity as an individual and as a member
of any bigger group.I would share my personal effort for my village in
Mayurbhanj district of Orissa.A small village with 23 youths all under
matriculate but literate. We started with small microfinance three years back(My
personal contribution) and today we are dreaming of taking over weekly hats
with a yearly bid value of Approx.Rupees 2Lakh. I have seen local resources
are enough to make them grow substancially. We have taken a pond on lease from
Panchayat Samity and entered into pisciculture. Our first harvest during next
Makar Sankranti is expected to fetch us atleast Rs.50,000/- to 60,000/-.We have
ensured that every child goes to school. Our next effort would be to see that
every child goes beyond High school.I am trying to get a coop. society
registered shortly.I am hopeful that in next two to three years every family's
income would be doubled and ensure engagement
for all the youth throughout the year.
This is all without any support from outside. No NGO & No Govt. Infact self help
groups have been more of Govt. supported projects where people find only scope
with limited oppertunity. It has not been able to create enterpreneurs in the
true spirit.I consciousely avoided that route.Even for coop societies the long
term prospects appear not so bright. But we are trying out.
With warm regards.
Dayanidhi Marandi.
