CAUSES AND INDICATIONS OF SHRI SHIBU SOREN’S DEFEAT

Shri Shibu Soren lost the Tamar Legislative Assembly By-election to Shri Gopal
Krishna Patar (Raja Peter) with the margin of more than 9000 votes. This has
many indications and meaning.
No doubt, shri Soren had put commendable efforts in making of Jharkhand. He has
come a long way from a son of aN ordinary tribal farmer of village Nemra of
Hazaribag district to a Cabinet Minister of Central Govt. or Chief Minister of
Jharkhand. And as a villager from a remote village, I appreciate his struggle.
He has huge fan following in Jharkhand particularly in his area, Santhal
Pargana. People call him as “Guruji”. And, I think very less Political Leaders
of India have this type of respect in his people.
But after the formation of separate state Jharkhand, Shibu Soren has slowly
lost his popularity. He was a part of the “SANSAD RISWAT KAND” earlier. He has
spoilt his image from a respected GURUJI to a “BRASHT NETA” or “KURSI KA PYASA
NETA”.
Most of the urban Indians are now well aware of Sorenji’s “KURSI PREM”. He also
likes to take advantage of the political scenario or mathematics and bargain
with other parties. Just like other Politicians of India, he also believes in
the FUNDA of “YOU GIVE ME THIS MINISTRY (Chair), and I WILL SUPPORT YOU WITH
THE ELECTED MEMBERS OF MY PARTY.”
The clear indication of Sorenjis defeat in Tamar by-election is that people
don’t want him as CHIEF MINISTER OF THE STATE. That by-election was not just an
assembly election. There was the question of the CMs post. The public (the
voters) have rejected him as MLA, because they didn’t want him as CM.
I personally know many people who work for JMM. Many of them say, “GURUJI KO TO
AB SIRF KURSI CHAHIYE. WO PARTY KE KARYAKARTAHON KO JYADA IMPORTANCE NAHIN
DETE, TABHI TO WO APNE RISTEDARON KO HI ELECTION MEI KHADE HONE DETE HAIN.”
Before Tamar by-election, the workers of JMM were telling that “GURUJI KO YAHAN
SE NAHIN, APNE ILAKE SE LADNA CHAHIYE THA, YAHAN SE JITNA MUSHKIL LAGTA HAI.”
They were telling that “US AREA KE LOG KAHTE HAIN GURUJI TO BAS KURSI KE PYASE
HAIN, BAHAR KE HAIN, KAISE VOTE DEN UNKO.” Tamar is mainly the MUNDA area, and
Guruji is Santhal and Patar is MUNDA.
May be there was some political game played by UPA or BJP, which he failed to
realize. His defeat may also reveal that Soren is INCOMPETENT for the CMs post.
Even being at the DRIVERS seat he cannot win a by-election and got defeated by
Raja Peter who is a younger player in the Political Game. Sorenji had tried to
USE the GOVERNMENT MACHINERY in his FAVOUR. But he failed.
When I see one other JMM leader (MP) i.e. Shri Hemlal Murmu, I think he may be
far better candidate than Sorenji. Shri Murmuji is more educated. He is smart.
He has better command on language. His profile is more impressive than
Sorenjis. Even many of the JMM workers accept this. People outside Jharkhand
say that, “YAAR SOREN TO JOKER LAGTA HAI.”
The other thing, after becoming CM (from 27th August 2008), Sorenji had done
nothing appreciable, rather he was busy in TRASFERING the public servants. One
of such servants has many relatives in Tamar Area. He was victimized by false
allegation and transferred. Before the polls Sorenji had one statement,
“Naxallites humare Bhai Bahan hain.” All these minor things count in Elections.
In fact, when I consider the progress report of year 2000 born states JH,
Uttarakhand and Chhatisgarh, sadly Jharkhand is the worst performing state and
Uttarakhand is the best performing state. Unfortunately Jharkhand has no leader
as Gujarat or Delhi or MP. If I consider the present MLAs of JH, I see no
suitable candidate for CM, who can lead from front, who can manage the
coalition government better, who can decide and act prudently in the interest
of Public. Even the NDA is not having that kind of leadership at present. And,
the unstable government is one of the main causes of non-performance of
Jharkhand, otherwise 8 years duration is more than enough to see some
appreciable change or development in any mineral rich state like JH. Jharkhand
needs atleast a stable single party government like Gujarat, MP, Delhi. For
development of Jharkhand, the educated youth needs to show their abilities. But
unfortunately they don’t prefer to opt for Politics,
rather they like to do JOB of Rs. 5 lacs per annum like engineering, banking,
railways, software etc. And the uneducated youth is misled by such NETAS to
work for such leaders in elections.

Sincerely Yours
MMunda
