Dear Friends:

It is ufortunate that mid-day meals to school children should be seen through a
lens of politics and religion. Most madrasas have students from poorer sections
and one meal a day for a child from a needy family is a matter not of
religion but of common human compassion, quite apart from the fact tht millions
of children of all sections are being fed at government cost without regard to
thier identity, and rightly so. Let us not become so engrossed in our
criticisms that we lose sight of the hunger and poverty which denies children
food, childhood, education and a hope for the future.
